Thirty years ago I fit my first patient with hearing aids. She had called our office out of concern that she was no longer able to hear her family “as well as she once used to.” Her evaluation indicated that she had a loss present at both ears and it was then that she decided to give hearing instruments a try. During her first check-up she was moved to tears as she began to tell me of all the sounds she was able to hear again.
